The annual observance of World Soil Day on December 5 is intended to raise awareness of the value of good soil and to promote the sustainable management of soil resources. World Soil Day (WSD) provides an opportunity to address the growing challenges in soil management, combat soil salinization, increase soil awareness, and motivate small-scale farmers to improve soil health. It also raises awareness of the significance of maintaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being.
This year small-scale farmers join the rest of the world in commemorating World Soil Day 2021 under the theme: "Soils: where food begins".
